Provides alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to residents and guests in a pleasant and clean environment in accordance with Brookdale standards.

  1. Maintains knowledge of creating different types of alcoholic drinks.

  2. Conducts inventory of necessary supplies.

  3. Orders liquor, other beverages, and supplies as needed.

  4. Maintains appropriate levels of ingredients and supplies.

  5. Charges residents and guests for drinks via a cash register or property billing system.

  6. Keeps bar and lounge area clean and sanitary.

  7. Assists with set-up of special events.

  8. Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety and cleaning schedules.

  9. Responds quickly to resident and guest requests. Interacts with guests to ensure their satisfaction.

  10. Ensures that drinks are poured and residents’ orders are taken and fulfilled promptly. Ensures accurate fulfillment of orders.

  11. Returns beverages that do not meet quality standards.

  12. Responds to community issues or concerns that may occur. Reports issues/concerns to management immediately.

  13. Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must meet state age requirements.

Certifications, Licenses, and Other Special Requirements

Must complete the Beverage Alcohol Sellers & Servers Education Training course (B.A.S.S.E.T.).

Obtain/hold applicable local, state or county alcohol serving licenses/certificates.

Management/Decision Making

Makes standard and routine decisions based on detailed guidelines with little independent judgment. Problems are generally solved with clear, detailed guidelines or by reporting them to a supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills

Has a basic level of a skill and can follow written or verbal instructions. Has basic technical skills to complete a few repetitive and well-defined duties. Has a basic knowledge of the organization in order to answer basic questions.
